Magic Bus

Acrylic on canvas. This painting was inspired by the Witch Way bus service in Lancashire, the service being named after the Pendle Witch Trials. Each bus had the name of one of the supposed witches displayed on the side of the vehicle. Unsure whether the names were intended as a memorial to the dead or a celebration of the trial, I imagined the poignancy of a living descendant, or possibly a reincarnation of the dead ‘witch’, finding themselves travelling, unawares, on the bus bearing their name.
