Barn and walling near Sedbusk in Wensleydale

Oil on board. The field to the right of this scene contained a herd of sheep which came slowly closer as long as I didn’t look towards them, as if they were playing a game of “Grandma’s Footsteps”. This was a little disconcerting, especially as it got dark, so I never let them get very close without looking their way. Sheep may be harmless but it seemed too much like a scene from an Algernon Blackwood story. SOLD
